Online physiotherapy connects you with a physiotherapist through a live video consultation. Learn how your assessment, exercises, treatment plan, and follow-up sessions work from home.

Talk to a physiotherapist for 15 minutes, free. You’ll get a clear read on whether remote care fits your condition.
Speak to a licensed physiotherapist before you commit to anything.
Online physiotherapy, also called virtual physiotherapy or telehealth physical therapy, is care from a qualified physiotherapist delivered through video instead of a clinic visit. In some countries the profession is called physical therapy. The two terms describe closely related services, and this guide uses “physiotherapy” throughout.
Many people assume physiotherapy means hands-on treatment. In practice, a large part of it is assessment, education, and guided exercise. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy notes that remote delivery can be used for triage, assessment, self-management support, e-rehabilitation and monitoring. Those are the parts online care handles well.
You choose a time, usually through an app, website or phone call. You may be asked about your main problem and how long you have had it. If you have scans or reports, you can share them, but many providers do not require them to get started.
A good provider checks early whether remote care fits your situation. If something needs an in-person doctor or examination, they should say so instead of going ahead.
The physiotherapist takes your history, watches how you move and agrees goals with you. Details are covered in the assessment section that follows.
Based on what they find, they suggest exercises, activity changes and self-care advice. It is built around your symptoms, daily routine and available space at home.
They demonstrate each exercise, watch you try it, and correct your position or pace on the spot.
Later sessions review pain, movement and daily function. Exercises are made easier, harder or replaced as you change.
If progress stalls or new warning signs appear, you may be referred for an in-person assessment, imaging or another healthcare professional.
The physiotherapist talks through your symptoms, past injuries, medical history and goals. They then observe you on camera doing movements or daily tasks, explain what they think is going on, and start a plan. It often lasts 30 to 60 minutes.
Every assessment begins with questions: where it hurts, what makes it better or worse, how it affects sleep and work, and what treatment you have already tried. This part is the same as in a clinic and gives a lot of information.
The therapist may ask you to point to the sore area, stand up from a chair, bend, reach overhead, or walk toward and away from the camera. For a knee problem, they may watch you do a small squat or climb a step. They look at how you move, where you hesitate and what reproduces your symptoms.
Imagine someone with a stiff shoulder. The physiotherapist might ask them to raise both arms from the front, then from the side, and compare the two. That comparison, plus the person’s description, helps shape the next step. This is an illustration only, not a template for anyone’s care.
A physiotherapist cannot feel a joint, test muscle tension by hand, or perform manual therapy through a screen. Online assessment gathers what it can and stays honest about what it cannot. Many providers also use the phrase “working impression” rather than a firm diagnosis, since some conditions need in-person testing to confirm.
Most online plans centre on exercise therapy. The physiotherapist shows the movement, watches your attempt, and gives cues such as “slow down” or “keep the knee over the toes”. Some providers then send short videos or instructions so you can repeat the exercises between sessions.
Most exercises need little or no equipment. A chair, a towel or a resistance band may be suggested when useful.
Suitability depends on your assessment, not just your diagnosis label. Online care is commonly used for:
Neurological rehabilitation can also be delivered remotely in some cases, but it is usually more complex and needs careful clinical judgement.
Online physiotherapy does not replace emergency care, a physical examination, imaging or hands-on treatment. NHS England’s guidance on remote musculoskeletal services recommends a blended approach and says some higher-level rehabilitation may be better face to face. It also notes remote assessments can take longer.
Seek urgent medical care, not an online booking, if you have: chest pain or breathlessness; new weakness in a limb; numbness around the groin or inner thighs; new loss of bladder or bowel control; back pain with fever or after a serious fall; a suspected fracture or dislocation; a hot, swollen calf; or sudden severe pain. This list is not complete. If you are worried, contact a doctor or emergency services.
In-person assessment may also make sense when symptoms are unclear, do not improve as expected, need hands-on testing, or when your therapist recommends it. Being referred on is a sign the process is working.
For many musculoskeletal conditions, research suggests supervised online exercise can produce results similar to in-person care. Evidence quality varies by condition, and not every patient or problem is covered. Your assessment determines whether it is appropriate for you.
A 2026 systematic review of upper-limb conditions found similar improvements to in-person rehabilitation, though the certainty of the evidence ranged from very low to moderate. The authors describe it as tending to support telerehabilitation, but not conclusively.
A meta-analysis on tendinopathy (10 studies, 412 people) found a potential advantage over unsupervised home exercise. Another systematic review found comparable satisfaction and similar or better attendance and adherence than in-person physiotherapy.
These findings cannot be stretched to every condition or person. Studies differ in age group, condition, and how much therapist contact was included.
| Online | In Person |
|---|---|
| Guided by video, from home | Hands-on examination and treatment possible |
| Strong for education and exercise coaching | Better for manual therapy and complex examination |
| No travel; flexible timing | Equipment and supervised space available |
| Depends on camera, space and connection | Not reliant on your home setup |
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy says the standard of care online must equal face-to-face care. That is a fair benchmark for any service.
Resolve360 provides online physiotherapy through video-based consultations, allowing patients to connect remotely with physiotherapists for assessment, guided rehabilitation, exercise-based care, and follow-up support. Its physiotherapy service describes a process that includes booking a consultation, completing an assessment, attending a live 1-on-1 consultation, and receiving ongoing support. Resolve360 also states that its physiotherapists determine whether online physiotherapy is appropriate based on the patient’s symptoms and individual needs.
If online physiotherapy is suitable for your needs, you can learn more about Resolve360’s physiotherapy services and consultation process through its official service page.
Many people search for online physiotherapy in India because of cost, access or convenience, and Indians living overseas often want a therapist who understands their language and routine. The key question is regulation. Telehealth rules differ by country and, in some places, by state or province. The CSP, for example, says its UK members’ cover does not extend to the USA, Australia or Canada.
If you live outside India, ask any provider where the therapist is licensed and whether they may treat patients in your location under local rules. Resolve360 also publishes pages for online physical therapy in the USA. Confirm the details there directly.

I had my online physiotherapy session with Dr. Sandeep, and I had a really good experience. He was patient, friendly, and took the time to understand my pain and daily routine before suggesting exercises. He explained each exercise properly and showed me how to do the movements correctly. I could also ask questions during the session, which made things much easier. I really liked the convenience of doing the sessions from home. I didn’t have to travel to a clinic, and the one-on-one sessions felt personal and comfortable. The follow-up sessions were also helpful and kept me motivated to stay consistent with the exercises. I am currently recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery, and choosing the Resolve360 video rehabilitation platform has been one of the best decisions for my recovery journey. When I joined the platform, I was not only recovering from surgery but was also suffering from severe back pain that significantly limited my mobility. Surprisingly, after just two sessions, I experienced noticeable relief in my back pain, which gave me the confidence to continue my rehabilitation. What I appreciate the most is that every exercise is carefully tailored to my specific condition, recovery stage, and individual needs. The structured rehabilitation plan has kept me consistent and motivated. Without this platform, I don't think I would have had such a well-organized approach to my recovery. A special thanks to Dr. Diksha for her exceptional expertise. She has an incredible ability to understand the root cause of pain and provide effective solutions, even through remote consultations. Beyond her clinical skills, she is incredibly empathetic, patient, and motivating. She genuinely listens, understands what you're going through, and encourages you throughout the recovery process, making even the most challenging phases feel manageable. Her guidance and positive attitude have been invaluable to my recovery. I would also like to appreciate my Care Manager, Ms. Aditi, for her outstanding support. She is extremely proactive and dedicated to ensuring everything runs smoothly. Whether it's reminding me to schedule my diet consultation or reassessment sessions, handling last-minute rescheduling, or assisting with payments, she manages every aspect effortlessly. She is always responsive and just a chat away whenever I need help. I highly recommend Resolve360 to anyone looking for a personalized, structured, and professionally managed rehabilitation program. The Only Solution That Found My Root Cause and Delivered Real Recovery For years, I was trapped in a frustrating cycle, suffering from debilitating back pain and a persistent knee injury. I had seen countless specialists—various physiotherapists and chiropractors—but none of them could provide lasting relief or truly get to the heart of my problems. I was ready to give up. Thankfully, Dr. Apoorva and Dr. Asish insisted I join Resolve 360 for a fresh start on my recovery journey, and it was the best decision I could have made. The true breakthrough came from Dr. David. His diagnostic skill is exceptional; during our dedicated one-on-one video call sessions, he was able to accurately find and address the root cause of both my back pain and knee instability. For the first time, I felt like I wasn't just treating symptoms, but actually correcting the underlying issues. The progress has been incredible. My initial back and knee pain are vastly improved, and Resolve 360 continues to help me, focusing now on making my muscles strong to ensure long-term stability and health. The one-on-one format is the key—it ensures I receive personalized attention, correct technique, and real-time adjustments tailored only to me. I am suffering from heel pain for the last few years and the physiotherapy sessions provided by resolve360 have helped me a lot. The best thing about resolve360 is the flexibility they offer. I had sessions both early in the morning and evening depending upon my schedule. All the doctors on their panel are excellent and are always willing to go extra mile and give more than 100%. They do not prescribe any short cuts and focus on resolving the problem from the root cause instead of promising you any magic pill. I will recommend everyone to give it a try if they are facing any issues related to pain or mobility and is in need of physiotherapy.Posted on Google![]()
